PADI Open Water Diver Course
If you’re keen on a new adventure, the PADI Open Water course is for you! You'll explore the amazing diving that Melbourne has to offer, meet new people and have the opportunity to dive locally and all over the world with our Dive Club.
The PADI Open Water Diver Course is the most popular lean to scuba dive course in the world. If you get certified in Melbourne Victoria as a PADI Open Water Diver you'll be able to dive anywhere in the world, with any dive shop, to a depth of 18m.
To enroll in a PADI Open Water Diver course, you must be 12 years old or older. You need basic swimming skills and need to be in good physical health. No prior experience with scuba diving is required.
What will you learn?
The PADI Open Water Diver course consists of three main phases:
How can you start learning now?
Study in your own time online with PADI eLearning. Your theory is done online whenever is convenient for you. Once you've paid a deposit, we will email you with a PADI e-learning access pass so you can get started right away. Once you've finished the online study we bring you into the shop to size up for some gear and then move onto the pool.
What scuba gear will you use?
In the PADI Open Water Diver course, you learn to use basic scuba gear, including a mask, snorkel, fins, regulator, buoyancy control device and a tank. For hygienic purposes and so you get the right fit you will need to purchase your boots, fins, mask and snorkel.
Into the pool! We begin at 9:00am and finish around 4:00pm.
You will practice the skills in the shallow water to get you ready for the beach.
Breathing underwater for the first time is something you’ll never forget!
Now we head to the beach doing some shore dives, going over the skills you've practiced in the pool and checking out what the local pier dives have to offer.
We usually use Rye or Portsea Piers to practice off the shore.
Let's go diving off the boat! This is where you really see something special, taking you to some exciting places around the bay.
The Pier dives in Melbourne are great however the boat dives are awesome! We design our courses to run from the shore and boat to give you the best experience and allow you to dive anywhere around the world after certification.
The whole course is designed for three days of fun and prepares you to dive after the course and join us on our club dives. The club dives are run during the week and weekends, both from shore and boat. The Dive Club is the best way to meet new people.
